I have just cut the heads off most of my hydrangea flowers to dry for use throughout the winter and Christmas.
Dried hydrangea heads are one of my favourite winter flower arranging accessories. The beauty starts in autumn when I cut the heads off all my pink and purple hydrangeas. I find the white ones brown too quickly to dry successfully. These heads make beautiful autumnal displays in vases throughout the house.
The heads can then be left in the vases to dry slowly – there is no need to keep topping up the water. As they gradually fade they can be used in wreaths, swags and arrangements throughout the dark winter months.
