Last week I told you that I would be taking up the weekly challenge laid down by Cathy at Rambling In The Garden to find something from the garden to put in a vase every Monday.
Here is this my vase this week.
This week was not as easy as last week. The fuchsias and dahlias that have brought such beauty and colour to my pots for so many months have now succumbed to the frost.
I was amazed, however, at what a good rummage did reveal flowering quietly in the borders. The last of the yellow David Austin rose The Pilgrim is complemented by verbena bonariensis, red valerian, pink phlox, Cerinthe major, scabious, a lone anemone and the fresh feathery foliage of fennel that is still growing well in the kitchen garden. Quite a summery bouquet for late November and a nice contrast to the festive arrangements that are about to abound on all our flowery blogs.
