Once again I was drawn to the springlike shades of the tulips, hyacinths and anemones at the market yesterday. Whilst my garden is just beginning to awaken with the snowdrops  and hellebores slowly showing their beauty, this burst of colour in my vases shouts out that spring is on its way.

Blue HyacinthsThese blue hyacinths smell divine.

Pink TulipsAfter last weeks large and airy display, I have cut these pale pink tulips down to short stems and chosen a cut glass jug to show off their elegant grace.

IMG_1447These tiny pink anemones needed a very delicate setting to make the most of their fragile beauty – after a few false starts with other vessels a white soup cup proved to be the perfect vase.

Hyacinths, Tulips & Anemones

Together these three arrangements have brought the spring garden into my January sitting room.
