Welcome to Flowers On Sunday – I hope you have had a lovely weekend!

Ranunculus just might be my favourite spring flower – the delicate tissue paper petals and fragile pastel shades never fail to delight. This weekend I was lucky to find some stunning white ranunculus at the market, which I have had lots of fun photographing today. The weather this week has been particularly dull until today – what a surprise to wake up to a bright and sunny day – a perfect backdrop for some photography!

White Anemones

I arranged the ranunculus loosely in this silvered vase and used a swatch of pale grey fabric as a base. A beautiful glass cookie jar (a wedding present) filled with pussy willow since Christmas and my little silver love bird added the accents.

These ranunculus were almost closed when I bought them yesterday, so I was delighted to find them fully open this morning after a night in the warm kitchen.

White Anemone

I could not resist selecting a flower for a solo performance – a lovely grey velvet made the perfect background. I converted this to black and white as the colours were so subtle.

Here is the same flower with a darker grey background and in colour.

After all the photographs I moved the flowers to a shelf in the dining room where they will spend the week. I tried both black and white and colour for this shot.

I hope you have enjoyed Flowers On Sunday and I will be back with something completely different tomorrow for In A Vase On Monday.
