School went back today and after a beautiful holiday it is time to turn my attention back to the garden. The beautiful weather has made the last few days feel like a continuation of our Florida holiday and I have done little more than water a few pots in between rooting out school uniform and sewing name tapes onto new items.
Before work starts in earnest I have been reaquainting myself with the plot after a few weeks away. The late summer harvest is looking good and I have a few photos to share with you:
The Halloween pumpkins are looking good.
The first crop of apples in the new orchard – Discovery is the variety.
Also I have a few Bramley’s this year so there will be at least one apple pie this autumn.
The cerinthe majus started in the early summer and planted out in July is looking beautiful with the heads of sedum behind.
So I am looking forward to getting back to work next week – seed sowing and planting out winter vegetables will be top of the list.
Name tag sewing- booo. Pottering in the garden – hooray.
