Just a quick post tonight as the weekend has flown by all too quickly!
I had to miss my weekly trip to the flower market yesterday as I was up with the larks and on an early train to London to attend a photography workshop run by the lovely and very talented Emily Quinton who writes The Start Up Wife.
Tonight I am posting just a few of the photos I took yesterday.
I really enjoyed having the opportunity to take flowery photographs with all of Emily’s lovely props!
I am looking forward to sharing a full review of the day with you later this week, when I have had a chance to go through my many notes.
I hope you have had a lovely weekend!
I was trying to peer at your lovely pictures Julie and work out whether all the flowers were REAL – where on earth has she got those clematis from in the last picture? I wonder about a short course myself
They were real but I didn’t think to ask where they came from – I guess when you live in London there is a lot available! I found it very useful to spend a day just thinking about my camera and photography – there are to many distractions (mainly gardening related!) at home for me to concentrate on photography books and u tube videos.
Your flowers are full of freshness and I love the way you click..in short a sweet post on Sunday , Julie.
Thank you Sajina.
i look forward to hearing more.
Thank you Christina – I have a lot of photos from the day so I need to do a serious edit, but I am looking forward to writing about this day.
Sounds like a brilliant day and I look forward to a full report Julie. I think that I may well have to enrol on a course to get to grips with my new camera 🙂
Thank you Anna – I can highly recommend a short course – much easier than trying to plough through a manual!
Beautiful photographs and really lovely light, sounds like a very worthwhile day.
Thank you Julie – I started using a DSLR about a year ago thinking that I needed to learn to take better pictures of objects. Over the year I have realised that what I really need to do is to capture the light – learning about light has improved my photos a lot.
And thank you for the introduction to Emily! What beautiful pictures, and I just followed her on Instagram. It is amazing what one can do with the iPhone, isn’t it? What kind of camera do you use Julie??Can you tell us?
I am using an older camera body – a Canon EO5 500D, with a new 50mm 1.4 prime lens. The new lens has a much better focus than the old kit lens. Photos that I post of general garden views and on Instagram are taken on my iPhone or iPad. Emily is amazing. I would not have believed you could take such good iPhone photos if I had not seen her Instagram feed!
These are so, so beautiful! It was lovely having you on the workshop. Thank you for coming! x
Thank you Emily – I had a lovely time and learnt lots! I hope you will pop back to see the full post later in the week.
