In a change from my usual flowery posts I am writing tonight to tell you about a fabulous art exhibition that is taking place very close to Woodbridge in Suffolk over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. The purpose of the exhibition is to raise money for Breakthrough for Breast Cancer. Please have a look at the website Art For Cure for details of the many talented artists who will be exhibiting their work in aid of this charity.
Regular readers may remember my previous posts about gardening courses that I have taken at The Grower, run by the inspirational Belinda Gray. Last June I enjoyed a day learning about growing and cooking summer vegetables and in November I got into the Christmas spirit on Belinda’s Christmas Inspirations Day.
About 5 years ago I attended Belinda’s very first course about growing vegetables at The Grower together with a couple of friends. Since those early days we have made regular trips out to The Grower in Bredfield near to Woodbridge for a variety of inspiring courses. Over the years we have all become firm friends with Belinda and her energy, passion and design skills have given us so much to emulate in our own lives.
Imagine how we felt back in early 2013 when we learnt that this dymanic lady had fallen victim to breast cancer. Belinda fought this terrible disease with her usual determination and energy and after many harrowing months we were all relieved and elated when she was given the all clear.
As well as being a committed grower Belinda is also a lover and collector of art and sculpture, which she uses to great effect both inside and outside her home. In usual Belinda style, it was shortly after her all clear that she told us about her vision to hold a grand art exhibition using the beautiful surroundings of her home and garden to raise money for Breakthrough For Breast Cancer.
Art For Cure is the result of her vision and determination and what an exhibition this will be. Taking place over the next bank holiday weekend (3rd – 5th May), Belinda and her great friend Sally Ball have got together with numerous artists to provide a feast for the senses with paintings, prints and sculptures displayed in and around Belinda’s beautiful home. Sadly, not long after the pair started work preparing for this exhibition, Sally also was diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment – making a mockery of the old saying that lightening does not strike twice!
To support this important cause I am pleased to be sponsoring an artist’s board in the name of Peonies & Posies. I am really excited to see the exhibition and highly recommend that any of my readers within driving distance of Woodbridge head out and take a look – you will not be disappointed!
I hope that my photos of Belinda’s stunning garden will make you curious to visit the beautiful surroundings of Bredfield House and that a look at the website Art For Cure will whet your appetite for the art that will be on display. If we are lucky Belinda’s breathtaking ancient wisteria and old climbing roses will be in flower for the weekend.
For all my other readers who cannot make the exhibition I would be extremely grateful if you have a look at the website and perhaps consider making a small donation to help Belinda & Sally turn all their incredible work into a great fund raising success. I certainly wish them luck with this inspirational project and I am delighted to have been able to put Peonies & Posies name onto the list of sponsors.
That sounds like a great idea and truly great cause.
