I love having a cuttings garden! I was able to pick freely from the Purple Prince tulips that flowered this week and fill the drawing room tables with vases of fresh flowers.

I had thought that the tulips in the Cuttings Garden were lost after sitting under water for most of the winter, but Purple Prince has not been affected. Sadly some of the others did not come through so well. I have a long avenue of espalier apple and pear trees that is underplanted with lavender. The lavender is finally showing signs of life but the tulip Ganders Philosophy, which was planted between the lavender, looks terrible. On the bright side I have tulips coming into flower all over the garden this week along with narcissi Thalia, White Cheerfulness and Pheasants Eye, so I have plenty more to look at and photograph.
